Why Does My T-Shirt Smell Like Vinegar?
When you unpack a t-shirt with a digital print, you might notice a slight vinegar smell or a whitish residue.
No worries, this is entirely normal. The smell comes from the fixation agent applied during the printing process, and it is not permanent.
The fixation agent, sometimes called pretreatment, is used in all digital textile printing. It helps fix the ink to the fabric, ensuring better adhesion. Without this agent, the ink might come off the garment.
This smell usually disappears after the first wash.
Veslury Clothing Care Tips for the First Collection
Printed Garments (Direct-to-Garment Printing - DTG)
We use the latest digital textile printing (DTG) technologies to offer a wide range of printable garments and colors. Here’s how to care for your clothes to preserve the quality of the prints:
Washing: Machine wash cold, inside-out, on a gentle cycle with similar colors and mild detergent. Use non-chlorine bleach if necessary. Do not use fabric softeners or dry clean. Drying: Air dry or tumble dry on a low cycle. Ironing: Iron inside-out with a cool iron. Do not iron directly on the print.
Embroidered Garments
For embroidered garments, follow these care tips to maintain their quality:
Washing: Machine wash cold, inside-out, on a gentle cycle with similar colors and mild detergent. Use non-chlorine bleach if necessary. Drying: Air dry or tumble dry on a low setting. Do not soak or pile up the garments when wet. Ironing: Iron inside-out between two pieces of fabric. Do not wet the embroidery before ironing and do not use a steam iron.
By carefully following these instructions, you can avoid fading, cracking of prints, and shrinkage of garments, while preserving their quality and durability.
